As a Systems Engineering Scientist at Bayer my job was to integrate cross-functional areas to produce a blood analyzer where blood samples, reagents, and the instrument worked together to provide accurate patient results. I also performed the Risk Analysis which contained a top-down Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and bottom-up Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA). I had to have a good understanding of chemical, mechanical, electrical, software, and industrial engineering in order to integrate all areas into one system during development. At the same time, I had to incorporate manufacturing, customer service, and field service into the design so that important areas were accessible and easy to manufacture and maintain. That describes some of my technical total systems approach.
More important than what I had to do, was how I had to do it. I had no experience when I started at Ciba-Corning (Bayer) Diagnostics. Through hard work and building credibility with my results, in a few years, I was leading cross-functional teams of senior engineers. My leadership and project management skills and style had to work under that same Total Systems Approach. To understand the big picture and the details. To know when to prioritize the short-term crises and when I had to hold onto the long-term vision and drive the project through the tough times.
This same Total Systems Approach has been a key factor in my success as a business and non-profit consultant. My vision and business acumen allow me to show the bigger picture to my clients across every field. Not only looking and driving forward but with my risk analysis background always being aware of risks, pitfalls, and liabilities. Because it's great to have a great plan, but it's even better to have contingency plans just in case life happens, and life always happens.
Although I've tried to describe it here, this is one of those things that you have to really see and experience a few times to get the depth of what I do. Because there's good, and then there's a whole other level that adds increasing value across the board.
Here is my current 2015 Resume and Cover Letter.
Project Management and Support. I've led many cross-functional teams throughout my career. Effectively communicating and motivating others toward a common goal have been two of the keys to my success as a project manager.
Change management. I love working with teams to develop and implement new programs that lead to long-term positive organizational development. Developing new programs and procedures to help create a better future for everyone.

Integrating business with technology, marketing with engineering, research and development with manufacturing. Being able to look at the market and see opportunities. Understanding what is and creating a Vision of what can be.
A Level 5 Leader is a person who focuses on the team, on the project, not on their potential gains from taking on a leadership role. Someone who puts the project, the team, before themselves. These types of leaders produce the best results not only in terms of output, but in terms of team performance and employee job satisfaction.
Positive Psychology is a passion of mine. Helping people to be happy and to flourish and to see things in a different life is the most rewarding work I do. My positive attitude is contagious and I'm always looking focusing on solutions, not problems, because what is most important is not what happens to us but how we deal with it.
Can Creativity and Intuition be taught? Creativity can be your greatest resource. You must hire and nurture every talented and creative person you can find. Creatives will drive your business. They will see things that others can't, and create solutions when things seem impossible. This is an organizations most valuable asset.
